Building Experience Applied to Proactive Risk Reduction

Water risk is where we begin. Safer, more resilient buildings are the long-term goal.

Water damage remains the immediate focus of NorGaard Solutions because it represents a serious and often preventable threat to condominium, commercial, and institutional buildings.

We help building owners, condominium boards, property managers, and facility teams identify where their properties are exposed and implement practical systems that reduce the likelihood and impact of water-related losses.

But our long-term vision extends beyond water.

NorGaard Solutions is being built as a comprehensive building-risk partner, with the experience, relationships, and systems-based approach needed to support additional areas such as fire risk, electrical risk, emergency response systems, and other critical building exposures.

We do not begin with a product. We begin with the building.

By examining its infrastructure, history, operations, and areas of vulnerability, we can help develop a protection strategy that supports the property, its occupants, and its long-term value.

Aaron Norgaard | Founder & Director of Operations

As a Red Seal Carpenter, with over 20 years in residential and commercial construction, and many of them running a general contracting company, our Director of Operations, Aaron Norgaard, has firsthand experience in understanding where buildings are most vulnerable. A pattern became clear, that the vast majority of repairs were because of water damage, and NorGaard Solutions emerged with the simple question:

Why do we keep paying to repair preventable water damage instead of investing in ways to stop it?

Today, Aaron leads NorGaard Solutions and works alongside a trusted network of contractors, technology providers, insurance professionals, and industry partners. Together, they help building owners and managers assess risk, select appropriate solutions, and implement practical water protection strategies.

The Money Follows the Damage. It Should Follow Prevention.

Across years in construction, the biggest spending Aaron saw fell into three buckets: building new, renovating to replace aging systems, and emergency repair after something failed. Almost nothing went toward maintaining the systems already in place.

That gap is expensive. When buildings allow for damage instead of preventing it, the costs land as emergency repairs, insurance claims, and premiums that stay stubbornly high because proactive options are rarely on the table. Norgaard Solutions exists to put those options on the table — to close the maintenance gap before it becomes a claim.

Not a device seller. A risk partner.

Our mission isn't to just sell equipment, it's to understand a building's risk exposure, then source the solutions that solve it most effectively.

01.

a

Assess the Real Risk

Every building is different. We start with where yours is actually vulnerable — not with a product we're trying to move.

02.

Source What Fits

We select the best available systems and combine solutions that complement each other, rather than pushing a single device.

03.

Integrate the Right Professionals

Building-risk reduction often requires coordination among property managers, trades, engineers, insurers, and technology providers.

04.

Stay until you're confident

We work with a building or portfolio until your staff feel fully able to manage the system on their own.

Experience, credentials, and trusted industry relationships

NorGaard Solutions combines hands on construction experience with established water risk reduction technologies and industry relationships.

Red Seal Certification

The Red Seal endorsement represents an interprovincial standard of excellence for skilled trades in Canada.

LEaC Shield

NorGaard Solutions is an authorized LEaC Shield representative and the exclusive LEaC Shield integrator for Eastern Ontario.

LEaC Shield is a corrosion control program designed to reduce internal pipe corrosion and the risk of pinhole leaks in metallic plumbing systems. The system can provide an alternative to waiting for widespread piping failure or undertaking premature building repiping.

SafeHous Water Leak Detection

NorGaard Solutions sources and integrates SafeHous water leak detection technology, including flow monitoring, point of location sensors, automated shutoff, alerts, and centralized system oversight.

These systems are selected with building operations and insurer expectations in mind, rather than being treated as stand alone consumer devices. Supporting risk reduction programs have combined leak detection, automatic shutoff, remote building oversight, and event data to help properties demonstrate a more proactive approach to water risk.

Insurance Aligned Risk Reduction

We work with water protection strategies designed to support the technical and monitoring expectations considered by insurers and brokers, including programs associated with Chubb and BFL Canada.

Insurance discounts, deductible reductions, and policy outcomes are determined by the insurer and broker. They cannot be guaranteed. Our role is to help buildings implement credible risk reduction measures and produce useful documentation for those conversations.

Canadian Condominium Institute

NorGaard Solutions is a member of the Canadian Condominium Institute and participates in the Ottawa condominium community through industry events, education, and conferences.

Is the LEaC Shield treatment safe? Short answer: yes.

Because LEaC Shield works by adding a mineral to your building's water, the safety question comes up often — and it deserves a clear answer.

Is the treated water safe to drink?

Yes. LEaC Shield uses sodium silicate, a food-grade mineral certified to NSF/ANSI Standard 60 for drinking-water treatment and approved by Health Canada as a food additive. The sodium silicate product used in the program is certified to NSF/ANSI/CAN 60 for drinking-water treatment when applied according to its certified use conditions. Municipal water utilities use the same corrosion-control chemistry on their own pipes.

What exactly is added to the water?

A small, precisely controlled amount of sodium silicate — sometimes called waterglass. It's an NSF-certified, food-grade mineral, and the system's water-contact materials meet NSF/ANSI Standard 61 for drinking-water components.

How does it actually protect the pipes?

As treated water flows through your plumbing, the mineral forms a microscopic protective film on the inner surface of the pipes. The treatment is designed to form a protective mineral barrier along the inside of metallic piping. When properly specified, monitored, and maintained, this can help reduce the internal corrosion associated with pinhole leaks. As a result, it also reduces the leaching of lead and copper from older pipes into your drinking water.

Will I notice any change in taste, smell, or appearance?

When the system is properly specified and operated within the manufacturer’s treatment levels, residents should not notice a significant change in the water’s taste, smell, or appearance.

Does the system need ongoing maintenance?

Yes, and that's by design. A trained technician services the system monthly to replenish the mineral and confirm the equipment is maintaining continuous protection — so the barrier never lapses.

How disruptive is installation?

Installation is generally designed to cause limited disruption. Most often the system installers will only need to access the mechanical rooms, with minimal disruption to operations.
